The Faculty of Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. As the first university in Australia to grant degrees in science (1882), science has long been at the cornerstone of the institution and this continues today. As a research and education leader in fields such as agriculture, food & wine, animal & veterinary sciences, biological sciences, and physical sciences, the Faculty offers an exciting and innovative work environment.
Working with broad direction and a degree of autonomy, the Research Technical Services and Facilities Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of professional staff in the delivery of consistent, high quality, innovative and effective research technical and laboratory support services which support School, Faculty and University research strategic goals and business plan objectives.
The Research Technical Services and Facilities Team Leader supports the development of high level analysis of business and research needs, drives efficiencies, interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to build capacity and capability in operational research support services, programs and initiatives. In addition, the Team Leader will be responsible for developing new technical platforms to support Faculty research and the wider research communities.
Salary: HEO8 ($93,493 to $105,179) per annum.
Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.
Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately.
1.Proven experience in the management of a significant research support function at a Faculty level or equivalent
2.Demonstrated experience in leading a team of research professionals in a busy environment that has competing priorities
3.Demonstrated experience communicating, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct, professional and responsive manner to deliver client centric results
4.Extensive knowledge and experience in compliance and safety management for laboratories
5.Proven practical expertise in utilising state-of-the-art techniques, instrumentation and emerging technologies across a range of areas in sciences
6.High-level knowledge of general laboratory design and function as well as compliance with certification, operating procedures and safety practices applicable to a high throughput laboratory
7.Demonstrated knowledge of the University sector, funding of research and of related structures and processes in a research-oriented field
8.Post graduate laboratory science qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
